When your tires need attention
- Low tread depthWorn tread loses grip on wet roads and in snow. The tread wear bars across the grooves show when a tire is worn out.
- Uneven wearWear on one edge or in patches usually points to alignment, inflation or suspension problems.
- A slow leakA tire that keeps losing air may have a nail, a leaking valve stem or a bad bead seal.
- Vibration at highway speedAn out-of-balance wheel often shakes the steering wheel above 50 mph.
- Bulges or cracks in the sidewallSidewall damage can lead to a blowout and means the tire should be replaced.
- The TPMS light is onThe tire pressure warning means at least one tire is low or a sensor needs attention.
Tire services at ER Autocare
New tires. We sell tires for cars, SUVs and trucks and mount them on your wheels.
Mount and balance. Each wheel and tire is balanced so it turns evenly and rides smoothly.
Flat repair. Punctures in the tread are repaired when it is safe to do so; damaged sidewalls mean a new tire.
Rotation. Moving tires between positions evens out wear and helps the set last longer.
Repair or replace a flat tire?
Most nails and screws in the tread area can be repaired from the inside with a plug-patch, which seals the hole and the inner liner. That is the industry-standard method for a safe, lasting repair.
A tire cannot be safely repaired when the puncture is in the sidewall or shoulder, when the hole is too large, or when the tire was driven flat and the inner structure is damaged. In those cases we will show you why and help you choose a replacement.
How to make a set of tires last
A few habits protect your tires between visits:
- Check pressure monthly, using the number on the driver's door jamb, not the tire sidewall
- Rotate the tires on your manufacturer's schedule, often with every other oil change
- Get an alignment check after hitting a big pothole or curb
- Replace tires in pairs or sets so they wear and grip evenly
- Watch the tread in winterWorn tires lose grip on Ohio snow and slush first
Tires and wheel alignment go together
Alignment controls the angle your tires meet the road. When it is off, tires wear unevenly and the car may pull to one side. A new set of tires is the best time for an alignment check, so the new tread starts out wearing evenly.
See our wheel alignment service for what an alignment includes.

Frequently asked questions
Do you sell tires?
Yes. We sell tires for cars, SUVs and trucks, and we mount and balance them at all four ER Autocare shops.
Can you fix a nail in my tire?
Most punctures in the tread can be repaired. Punctures in the sidewall or shoulder, or tires driven flat, need to be replaced.
How often should tires be rotated?
Follow your owner's manual. Many vehicles call for a rotation every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, which lines up well with an oil change.
Why does my steering wheel shake at highway speed?
An out-of-balance wheel is a common cause. Bent wheels, worn tires and suspension wear can cause it too, and we check all of them.
